Google Reader
Google Reader is an aggregator that allows you to organize and read Atom or RSS feeds online or off. What does that mean? If you read blogs and news online, Google Reader lets you organize the information. You can create folders, make a blog a favorite, share blogs . . . . It plays into my fantasy that "if I could only get organized", everything would be okay.
Working two part-time jobs while I create a new life in the Pacific Northwest interferes with the time I would normally be writing and reading on the internet. It seems I'm either working or recovering from working. A week or more will go by before I open my Google Reader to catch up on what's going on in the world. When I do open my Reader, there will be hundreds of blogs and articles that haven't been read.
Notice the "mark as read" drop down box in the photo? Rather than feel overwhelmed by catching up with everything, I mark everything read that is older than a day. Am I missing anything? Some would say so but I would rather hear about today and not worry about yesterday's news.
I don't listen to the news on the TV, radio or newspaper. I like to call myself "woefully uninformed and blissfully ignorant."
What do you think? Do you use Google Reader? How has it helped you?
